These are our baited squid jigs. We have a few different styles for you to choose from. For those of you who have never seen the baited style squid jigs before, they are actually QUITE popular around the world. The principal is quite simple, squid don't just eat the pretty little imitation jigs, they eat FISH & SQUID!!!! So string onto the shaft - a herring, smelt, sardine, other local bait fish, or a slice of fresh squid!!!! Drop it down in the squid zone and wait for a bite, very simple. They seem to bite best when the bait is still. LOCAL UPDATE one of our local tackle shops did a field evaluation of these down at the Des Moines Pier on December 1st and 2nd. They worked PHENOMENAL!!!!! I'm sure you all know how it is, waiting for the next run of squid to hit. NOT while using these!!!! They were catching squid, while everyone else was watching and waiting. The best approach seemed to be to drop it to the bottom and reel up a couple of feet. Give it a little wiggle, and just let it sit. A few moments later, and a squid will be trying to swim away with his "FREE MEAL", just give your rod a quick jerk, and reel in your squid. String your bait on head first, and wrap a rubber band around the gills, and tail. Any questions about how to use these best, feel free to give me a call. Local guys were testing the Small jigs at the time. Another way you can work this, is cast it out under a bobber a few feet down, this is generally the cruising area for the squid, and they NEVER pass up a free meal!!!! They feature all stainless steel construction. For jigs that show green tubing on the hook shafts, the tubing is luminous and Glows In The Dark. |
